East Hanover Recreation

Some bicycle local trails. Some jog around Lurker Park. Some hike Patriot's Path. Others work out at the Madison Y. The kids play for town baseball, softball, basketball, football and soccer leagues.East Hanover NJ sports and recreation East Hanover recreation has something for everyone.

Whether you're an accomplished athlete, a weekend golfer, or a parent or member of one of the kids' teams, we hope to bring you the excitement of the East Hanover sports and East Hanover recreation.

Student Activities Club (SAC)

SAC is run by the Recreation Department with the Board of Education as an after-school activities club. It's held in the Recreation Center from 3pm to 6pm daily during the school year for children in the East Hanover school system grades K through 8. Certified teachers and counselors are there to help children with their homework. Parents can pick their children up between 3 and 6 pm. Snacks, games, movies, and outside activities are offered. Summer SAC & Summer Playground

Summer SAC and Summer Playground registration will be taken April 5 through June 16 at the Recreation Center. East Hanover children entering the 1st grade through 8th grade in the Fall are welcome to register. Both programs run from June 21 through July 30 at Lurker Park.

Summer SAC runs from 2-6 pm; the fee is $55/week.

Summer Playground runs from 9am - 2pm; the fee is $135/week for the first child in a family and $125/week for other children in the family.

Basketball

Boys Basketball for boys in grades 1-8 runs from November through March, with registration in September and October. Girls Basketball for girls in grades 1-8 runs September through November with registration in April and May.

Bowling

Open to East Hanover children ages 4 -14. Starts January 20 at 3:45 pm at Hanover lanes. Cost is $6.50 for peewees (ages 4-8) and $9.00 for juniors (ages 9-14). The cost includes two games of bowling, shoe rental and ball, an awards ceremony and a pizza party. Registration is at the bowling alley or the Rec Center.

PAL Football & Cheerleading

Monthly meetings are held at the Rec Center the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8PM. The season runs from late August through November and is open to boys Kindergarten through 8th grade and girls 4th grade through 8th grade. Gymnastics

East Hanover and Roseland Recreation Departments are sponsoring Gymnastics for children in grades K-6 at Diamond Gymnastics. Classes are Friday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 starting January 17. The 9-week program costs $85 per child. Registration is at the Recreation Center, or call (973) 428-3095.

Girls Softball

For girls in grades 1 through 8, registration is at the Rec Center on Saturday, January 24 from 10-2.

Lacrosse

For boys in grades 5 through 8, the season runs March through June with registration at the Rec Center in February.

Mondays
 
Adult Coed Volleyball on Monday evenings, 7-9 at the Central School gym. No fee.
Wednesdays Adult Men's Open Gym Basketball at the Middle School gym from 7-9 pm. No fee
Mondays and Wednesdays Senior Aerobics Classes 9:30 - 10:30 am.
Tuesdays and Thursdays Aerobics at the Recreation Center, 7-8 pm year round. This runs in 10-week sessions.  The fee is $40/person.

Township Pool News

Members must have a season badge to enter the pool. Badges are available at the Recreation center; they will not be available at the pool. Registration for the 2004 season begins April 5 at the Rec Center.  The pool opened Memorial Day weekend and will be open full time starting June 25.

Childrens' Birthday Parties

Swim Lessons

For East Hanover children five years old and up, swim lessons will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for three weeks starting July 7 and ending July 26. There's a 9:00 class and a 10:00 class. Register at the Recreation Center; registration is limited to 30 children per class. No phone registrations will be accepted; you need to register in person on Friday, June 11.

Swim Team

The swim team competes in Ju8ne through early August, for boys and girls ages 5-18. Registration is in June. Check with the Rec Center for exact dates and times.

East Hanover Soccer Club's recreation season runs in September for 8 weeks beginning the first Saturday after school begins. Travel soccer programs run in the Spring and Fall. There is also a summer soccer camp that runs for two weeks in August. Visit their website for information throughout the year.

East Hanover Baseball Association has a web site chock full of information for players, coaches and parents.

The East Hanover Pony & Babe Ruth Leagues run April through June, with registration for boys ages 13-15 happening in January and February.

East Hanover Theater

The Playhouse at East Hanover is a not-for-profit community theatrical group, sponsored by The Recreation Department of East Hanover. The Playhouse at East Hanover provides outlets for community members to learn and to perform. They promote the theater arts for the entire community ranging from Kindergarten through Senior Citizens.

Summer Job Applications

Applications are being accepted for lifeguards and summer playground counselors. Counselors need to be at least 18; lifeguards need to be at least 16. Applications may be picked up at the Rec Center Monday - Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
